As the water jet operator you are responsible for the set up and operation of the machine to make product assigned to you by the Supervisor. You are responsible for cutting custom parts from various materials while demonstrating accuracy and thoroughness. Employees are required to respond promptly to customer needs and meet commitments.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Following the group leader’s direction and schedule for completing orders
  • Choosing the proper settings and programs to fabricate products with appropriate material as described on the Blue Pick Ticket and/or customers drawing
  • Perform quality work in a timely manner with zero non-conformance’s
  • Trim materials used in production so that only useful pieces are stored
  • Correctly store the materials, supplies and tooling in designated areas
  • Perform and record daily maintenance issues on the machine
  • Follow the tagging system to ensure we have an accurate inventory of material
  • Report any potentially unsafe work conditions immediately
  • Utilize appropriate material fit to size (use smallest drops possible to make parts, i.e. 6″ use closest larger sizer drop)

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Assist in other departments when needed
  • Maintain clean work area/wash water jet at end of day
  • Store and clean tools upon completion
  • Identify any non-conformance’s detected and report immediately to Dept. Leader
  • Suggest recommendations for a more productive or safer work environment
  • Seek ways to improve quality
  • Turn off all equipment when finished job
  • Return unused material to designated area for future use
  • Immediately dry parts coming off water jet (particularly Steel and soft Gaskets)

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Mathematical skills and measuring skills are critical
  • Must be detail oriented and have good problem-solving skills; stress tolerance; interpersonal skills a must; good decision-making skills are also required
  • Ability to coordinate multiple assignments and projects in a fast-paced environment with possibility of conflicting priorities
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and Sigma nest a plus
  • Previous experience a plus

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to tolerate wet/humid conditions
  • Ability to stand, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move product up to 50 pounds and frequently lift and/or move larger items
  • Ability to tolerate excessive noise due to machine operation; PPE must be worn
  • Ability to view and decipher details of products
