Job Description: 

A machine builder assembles a variety of standard and non-standard machines and related tooling.

 Reporting to:

Automation Machine Build Supervisor


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for the execution of tasks as listed below to ensure our products meet or exceed quality standards.

  • Strong mechanical / machine building aptitude
  • Create jigs and fixture for improvements in build
  • Ability to read blueprints and understand tolerancing of components and machined parts
  • Familiar with Solidworks
  • Ability to alter, fit and adjust assemblies to meet close tolerances
  • Work from reverse engineering
  • Follow a machine from start to finish including drawing markups

General machinist capabilities: 

  • Bridgeport
  • Grinder, Surface, ID/OD
  • Lathe
  • Operate a wide variety of hand tools (drills,grinders, etc.)

Communicate to Supervisor prior to:  

  • Oxide
  • Anodize
  • Hardening
  • Powder Coat
  • Fabrication

Skills & Experience:

  • Good knowledge of pneumatic systems and fluid control systems
  • Good knowledge of vacuum systems
  • Understanding of GD&T (fits and tolerances)
  • Ability to communicate viable solutions to fulfill full functionality of the equipment to respective team members, Designers and Management.
  • Detailed, precise and accurate
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot problems
  • Machine building and manufacturing experience an asset (Leveling/Rigging)


  • Ability to work in fast paced / team environment
  • Positively interact with Customers, colleagues and management
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s license and Canadian Passport
  • Ability to travel to site locations
  • Proper tools for Assembly and Measurement
  • Follow all Health and Safety procedures



  • Minimum High School diploma.
  • Machinist/Millwright Mechanic or Equivalent (i.e. Toolmaker/Mould Maker)
